Crossroads Global Distribution is a non-profit corporation that takes Hong Kong’s quality superseded goods and redistributes them to people in need, locally and internationally. Volunteers are wanted to assist in this process.

Adventure-Ship is an NGO aimed at fostering the holistic development of local youth by taking them through the challenges of life at sea. Targeted participants are those with physical or mental disabilities, behavioral challenges, the underprivileged or those with chronic illnesses.

Feeding Hong Kong is the only food bank in Hong Kong dedicated to redistributing surplus food to people in need. By providing a bridge between the food industry and the hungry of Hong Kong, we provide a solution that simultaneously cuts food waste and feeds those most in need.

KELY support group provides programmes and services that focus on drug and alcohol prevention and intervention and are specially designed to tackle the root causes of abuse, including boredom, peer pressure, lack of self-awareness, low self-esteem, poverty, unemployment, and discrimination.

Then use the Internet to research the charity’s website .
Task 1: find out the following information.
• The name of their charity
• Who it helps and where they live
• What the charity does
• Why this matters
Task 2:
Explain to the class that their task is to convince the others that their charity’s work is the most important.
Each group should give a brief talk (1-2 minutes) to the rest of the class about their charity, what it does and why it matters. (20 minutes)
At the end of the talks, pupils should vote for the charity they think is the most important (not including their own).
Task 3:
Hold a discussion about why people voted for the winner. What made it the most important charity? Does the class think that the charities who came lower down in the list don’t matter, or are all these organizations important in some way to the people they help? (10 minutes) The groups should keep the materials on their charity, as this will be used as a basis for the next lesson’s activity on fundraising.
